We can help you understand what type of insurance your have and how it works so that you get the most benefit from your plan.
There are typically two types of plans these days, DHMO and PPO.
It is important to know which type of plan you have, in order to understand how it works.  It is also crucial to know if your chosen dentist is a in-network or out-of-network provider.  This makes a big difference in regards to co-pays.
If you have a DHMO plan, you will need to choose a primary care dentist to work with.  You must let the plan provider or carrier know who you have select to work with, as you will have to be assigned to the dentist prior to services being provided. There are no waiting periods, calendar year maximums, deductibles, or claim forms when you have a DHMO plan.
If you are insured by a PPO dental plan, you must select an in-network doctor in order to have a visit or procedure covered by the insurance. Some PPO plans will pay for a fraction of the costs of an out-of-network provider, and some will not pay for any portion.
With all the changes going on in healthcare it is good to ask questions and know your benefits.  We strive to stay up to date on changes before they happen in order to get you the most benefit from your plan.
